St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School, is a Christian Minority School under the ownership of Delhi Catholic Archdiocese. In 1996, the dream of, Archbishop Alan de Lastic, a visionary leader of the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese, establishing a school to uplift educational standards in Trans-Yamuna took root. That would welcome students from all backgrounds, transcending barriers of caste, creed, and socioeconomic status. His dream was not merely to build a school but to create a nurturing space where holistic education and moral values could flourish.
Under the jurisdiction of the Archdiocese of Delhi, which oversees the spiritual and educational needs of the Catholic community across Delhi and its Trans-Yamuna region, lies the vibrant parish Prabhu Prakash Girija in Trilok Puri. This church has long served as a spiritual anchor for residents of Trilokpuri, Mayur Vihar Phases 1–3, Chilla Gaon, and neighbouring areas bordering Uttar Pradesh. Beyond its religious role, the Archdiocese recognized the urgent need for educational empowerment in the region—a vision that ultimately gave rise to St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School, which is now in the jurisdiction of Mother of Perpetual Succour Church, Mayur Vihar III.
Turning this vision into reality was no small feat. Fr. Cyrilo Rodrigues, then parish priest of Prabhu Prakash Girija, collaborated with prominent parishioners, to secure land in Mayur Vihar Phase III. However, progress stalled when Fr. Rodrigues was transferred, leaving the project in limbo. Undeterred, the community’s resolve remained unshaken.
On April 15, 1996, St. Mary’s School opened its doors in the humble basement of Prabhu Prakash Church, Trilokpuri, under the leadership of Fr. Alex Toppo. With just 115 students and four dedicated staff members, the school began its journey. A year later, on April 10, 1997, it relocated to its permanent campus in Mayur Vihar Phase III—a milestone celebrated with the laying of the foundation stone by Archbishop Alan de Lastic on April 14, 1997. This historic moment marked the dawn of a new era for education in the region.
The academic stewardship of St. Mary’s was entrusted to the Sisters of the Congregation of Jesus (CJ Sisters), whose commitment to excellence and compassion reflects the legacy of their foundress, Mother Mary Ward. Their unwavering dedication has shaped the school into an institution that not only imparts knowledge but also fosters integrity, empathy, and social responsibility.
Today, St. Mary’s stands as a testament to the power of community, faith, and perseverance. From its modest beginnings to its current status as a revered educational hub, the school continues to hold its Motto “ Competence for Commitment”
